Position: Student Recycling Administrative Assistant

Starting Wage: $8 per hour one month trial to $8.25

QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Preference given to applicants with a valid driver's license and good driving record
•  Good physical condition
•  Scheduling availability as indicated below
•  Working knowledge of or ability to learn and use common computer software, including: MS Word, MS Excel, Pagemaker, Photoshop, and others as future needs determine
•  Good communication, public relations, and customer service skills
•  Ability to work well with little or no direct supervision

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position provides administrative support to the Program Manager and all Recycling Coordinators; as well as routine scheduled and back-up Student Recycler duties (as per Student Recycler job description). Administrative Assistant duties include but are not limited to:
•  Manage tracking mechanisms on computer spreadsheets, including data entry, data analysis, design/formatting of specialized tracking forms.
•  Design and create program graphics, brochures, and educational materials and signs
•  Innovate environmental/recycling educational campaigns
•  Perform Program research; gather information; create, administer, and collate program surveys
•  Maintain vehicle first aid kit and equipment inventories
•  Fulfill service functions such as: perform pop tab collections; maintain worm compost station; conduct residence hall tours and presentations; and manage and organize decal inventory
•  Assist with on-site educational activities, such as food waste audits, Earthday activities, Folk Festival event recycling, etc.
•  Work Student Recycler shifts as needed; function as a back-up for same, as needed
•  Assist with Program administrative tasks and assist Program staff, as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Administrative Assistant works primarily indoors in an office setting. However, regular duties will also include working outdoors in weather that may be inclement or extreme, and in indoor settings where temperatures, lighting, noise levels and air quality may vary.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

The Administrative Assistant must be available to be scheduled in minimum 2-hour blocks of time between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work as needed. This position, as with all student recycling positions, is required to work all Finals Weeks.
