Position: Student Recycler

Starting Wage: $7.75 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Preference given to applicants with a valid driver's license and good driving record
•  Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
•  Good physical condition
•  Scheduling availability as indicated below
•  Good communication, public relations, and customer service skills
•  Ability to work well with little or no direct supervision

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These positions provide primary recycling services to the campus community. Duties include:
•  Moving loaded material barrels, bags, boxes and other containers with or without handtrucks.
•  Loading and unloading material into and out of program step-vans
•  Transferring recycled material between containers
•  Grading, sorting, cleaning and loading paper, glass, plastic, tin, cardboard, and other recyclables in accordance with established market and program guidelines
•  Driving program vehicles in accordance with State of Oregon Rules of the Road , University and Facilities Services driving regulations, and Recycling Program guidelines
•  Maintaining recycling sites in accordance with program signage and cleanliness guidelines
•  Maintaining records of work completed and problems encountered on route slips
•  Interacting with the campus community in a professional and helpful manner
•  Serving as a communications conduit between program staff and the campus community
•  Demonstrating knowledge of and adherence to established safety guidelines and policies, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment and safe lifting techniques

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Student Recyclers work both indoors and outdoors in weather that may be inclement or extreme, and may work in an industrial setting where temperatures, lighting, noise levels and air quality may vary. Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, bend, stoop, climb stairs and use handtrucks.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Student Recyclers must be available to be scheduled in minimum 2-hour blocks of time between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Recyclers are also expected to commit to a regular weekly schedule for the duration of each 10-week academic term, and are required to work all Finals Weeks.
