TO BOTH FACULTY AND STUDENTS:

Each student who wishes to obtain field study credit must submit a proposal on this form and have it approved and signed by a faculty sponsor.

Please be clear about the rationale for academic credit. (It cannot be for doing the same work that the student would do for another course.)

This completed form must be turned in to Rm. 936 PLC along with a completed instructor's "Authorization to Register" form.

Student must then register for this CRN on DUCK CALL or DUCK WEB.

The form will be kept on file in Rm. 936 PLC .

All field study proposals are reviewed by the Curriculum Committee after registration.

TO STUDENTS:

Fill out this form completely before registration; failure to do so may lead to denial of credit.

Have a well developed plan of study. Make the objective of your proposed field study clear and relate it to your overall academic program.

Field study courses count toward the political science undergraduate major/minor degree requirements, but do not count toward the subfield requirement. 4 Credits will be given for each field study. No more than 10 credits of PS 406 may be counted. A student may register for only one PS 406 Field Studies per term.

TO FACULTY:

This form is an agreement between you, the student, and the department. Please be sure that you and the student are entirely clear on what work is to be done and how it is to be evaluated.

Does the student have adequate and relevant prior preparation? Is the proposed field study in a subject area sufficiently close to your own specialties that you feel comfortable supervising it?
