1. Why is so much of the focus in developmental psychology on babies and young children? Why might this trend be changing somewhat?

2. Why is it important not to think about cognitive development, social development and physical development in isolation of each other? How do they interact with each other? Provide an example (NOT one listed in class!) of at least two of these forms of development interacting with each other.

3. Compare longitudinal research designs and cross-sectional designs. Why are both important in developmental research? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each?
