1. In what ways do the researchers see safe sex discussions as different from other behaviors? Why is this relevant to the gap between attitudes and behaviors?

2. What is self-efficacy, and how is it related to safe sex practices?

3. Why did the researchers choose to use female subjects? What role did the confederate play?

4. How did the researchers manipulate experience? How did they manipulate expectations?

5. Was there an effect of experience at Time 1? At Time 2? Was there an effect of expectations at Time 1? At Time 2?

6. Did the expectations manipulation work for everyone? Who was most affected by the expectations manipulation?

(note: You can skip the section beginning ATable 4 presents Pearson...@ on p. 458, all the way until the last 2 lines of p. 462).

1. What is the basis for predicting who will commit a crime when using the Acriminological research in the rational choice tradition?@ What do Loewenstein et al. feel is overlooked in this model?

2. What is the Aempathy gap@ Loewenstein et al. describe? For whom is there a lack of empathy? Can you think of examples in your own life of this empathy gap?

3. What are the three groups in the study? (I.e., what are the three possible conditions subjects could be assigned to?)

4. What was the floor effect the authors are concerned about finding when using the question about having sex with the woman even if she protested? (Most of us will find this floor effect found in previous studies somewhat heartening!) What other question do they also use as a dependent variable to measure sexual aggression? Do you agree that this is a measure of sexual aggression?

5. Which group of subjects reports the most sexual aggression on the authors= dependent measures? Why did the researchers also ask about the drunk driving scenario?
