UNDERGRADUATE COUNCIL MEETING

March 30, 2004

Members present:  Deborah Baumgold, Kathy Roberts, Karen Sprague, Tyler Neely, Emily Gilkey, Mark Turner, Herb Chereck, Martha Pitts, Deborah Exton, Gordon, Sayre, Ron Severson, Hilary Gerdes, Julie Newton, Dave Hubin

Members absent:  Colleen Bell, Laura Vandenburgh, Henry Wonham, Steve Pologe, Jim Imamura, John Postlethwait, Paul Engelking, John Lysaker

Review of 100- and 200-level Course Syllabi

The council finished the review of the survey data for syllabi that were distributed on February 5 and February 19.  The review of syllabi that were distributed at the March 4th meeting will occur at a future meeting.

Agenda Items for Spring Quarter

1.  Motion to Amend Criteria for Group-satisfying Courses

A packet containing comments from Vice President Davis, CAS Dean Stone, and the Inter-College General Education Review Committee, as well as possible revisions in response to comments, was distributed to the council. Council members should review the packet and bring their revisions to the next meeting. The final draft of the Motion to amend the criteria for Group-satisfying courses will be considered at the May 12, 2004 Senate meeting.

2.  Proposal for an Undergraduate Minor in Nonprofit Administration

The Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management distributed a proposal for an Undergraduate minor in Nonprofit Administration.  The council will discuss the proposal at the April 13th meeting (time permitting) or the April 27th meeting.

3.  Incomplete Policy

Herb Chereck distributed a draft version of the Undergraduate Incomplete Policy composed by the Undergraduate Council sub-committee of Hilary Gerdes, Tyler Neely, Deborah Baumgold, Mark Thoma and Herb Chereck.  The Incomplete Policy will be discussed at the April 27th meeting. 

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Undergraduate Council will be on April 13, from 3:30- 5:00 in the Walnut Room in the Erb Memorial Union.
