February 28, 2004 Sokol Blosser Winery

A group of seven University of Oregon ASHRAE members recently toured the interesting earth burmed facility as well as the distilling systems within. The tour was followed by a leisurly taste testing session.

January 22, 2004 Lillis Business Complex Tour 

The student group in cooperation with the Willamette Chapter of ASHRAE had dinner, a presentation on the systems implemented in the new Lillis Business Center and a tour by the head mechanical and electrical engineers for the project.

October 24, 2003 Steelhead Brewery Tour 

The student group had their annual kick-off tour of the Steelhead Brewery this October. The tour was led by Jamie, the headbrewer, and enjoyed by all.

October 16, 2003 Outstanding Student Chapter 

Members of the Oregon ASHRAE Chapter recognized our chapter as the outstanding student chapter of Region XI (Washington, Oregon, Alaska and 1/2 of Canada). The unique character of the chapter is that it is situated in an architecture school at a university without an engineering department. The award recognizes the strength of student leadership in a field where the dialogue between the architect and engineer is critical to the building process. Thanks for the support!

At long last, our chapter finally saw how the pins are set in a behind the scenes tour at Emerald Lanes. Members also followed up with a few games.

March 14, 2002 Student Night

The Oregon Chapter presented 5 Chapter scholarship awards  ($600 each) at the meeting Multnomah, Oregon. Students wrote a competitive essay describing their area of study, career goals, relevant projects and employment. This year's recipient is Nick Rajkovich,  a second- year Option I M.Arch. student with a degree from Cornell University. He has been a GTF for Environmental Controls and an instructor for design studio .North Clackamas High School Tour followed the award presentations.

15 members attended a tour of the brewing facilities at Steelhead Brewery in downtown Eugene. Brewmaster, Jamie took us through the heating, cooling and cleansing process and we sampled roasted barley grain, draft root beer, and other beverages following the tour.

February 15, 2001 Student Night, Governor Hotel, Portland, OR

The Oregon Chapter presented 5 Chapter scholarship awards  ($600 each) at the monthly meeting at the Governor Hotel in Portland Oregon. Students wrote a competitive essay describing their area of study, career goals, relevant projects and employment. Chad Weltzin  is a second- year Option III M.Arch. student with a degree from Purdue University. He recently received his engineer's license.  He is a GTF for Environmental Controls.

February 17, 2000 Scholarship Awards

The Oregon Chapter presented 5 Chapter scholarship awards  ($600 each) at the monthly meeting at the Governor Hotel in Portland Oregon. Students wrote a competitive essay describing their area of study, career goals, relevant projects and employment. Laura Wade Jensen is a first- year Option III M.Arch. student with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and focus on environmental engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign. Patrick Denahey is a second-year Option II M.Arch student with a B.A. in art and psychology from the University of Iowa. He has worked as a Graduate Research fellow in the Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory at the University of Oregon.

During Student Night, the Oregon Chapter invited Steve Taylor to present the nuances of chilled water plant designs for a few major projects.
