I was at the Senate meeting Wednesday and was surprised that the document produced by the Conference Committee was first adopted by the Senate as a replacement for the Ad Hoc Committee version and was then, without further discussion or explanation, set aside so that yet another committee can come up with yet another document. I heard no reason given for not accepting the Conference Committee document.

I think the Senate Executive Committee should first work through the Conference Committee document and decide what, if any, changes are needed. To set up committees and charge them to carry out laborious tasks and then to set aside their work without explanation, is not acceptable Senate policy.
