Academic Requirements Responsible for the administration and interpretation
of academic requirements for undergraduate degrees, and for action on student
petitions for exceptions to requirements and to other academic regulations.
Committee on Courses Screens all proposals for course changes and
new courses; reports its recommendations by quarterly reports to the faculty
through the University Senate; advises the University editor on content
and structure of the UO Undergraduate and Graduate Bulletin.
Distinguished Teaching Awards Solicits nominations and selects recipients
of Ersted Award, Faculty Achievement Award, and other university-wide awards
for distinguished teaching.
Foreign Study Programs Reviews and approves academic standards in
foreign study programs of the University granting academic credit; reviews
new program proposals.
International Affairs Advisory Council Advises Vice Provost for
International Affairs on the implementation of UO strategic plan for internationalization.
Johnson Memorial Award Committee Reviews nominations, selects recipient
for annual award to faculty member who, as teacher/scholar/citizen of the
academic community, exemplifies commitment to principles affirmed in life
and career of Charles E. Johnson.
R.O.T.C. Advisory Advises President, the faculty, and the military
departments on the ROTC program at UO; reviews and recommends on appointments
to the University of Oregon's Department of Military Science; conducts
on-site interviews with nominees.
Scholastic Review Administration/interpretation of policy for students
whose work falls below UO scholarship requirements; rules on petitions
for reinstatement/change of grade.
Status of Women Advisory to President, faculty, and students in
developing affirmative action programs; stimulates career development programs
for women, and encourages greater participation by women in academic governance.
Student Conduct Recommends policy relating to student conduct; administers
the Student Conduct Code.
Student Conduct Hearing Board For conduct cases to be handled by
formal hearing, this Board hears the case, listens to evidence, decides
if Student Conduct Code has been violated, and determines which, if any,
sanctions to impose. See Senate
Resolution 97-5 Chris Loschiavo, Secretary (ex officio, nonvoting)
- convenor;
Student-Faculty Committee on Grievances Receives, investigates,
and reviews complaints by students against faculty members (concerning
academic responsibilities) and makes recommendations to the President.
Summer Research Awards Reviews applications for grants in aid of
research from University funds allocated for this purpose and presents
recommendations.
Tenure Reduction, Retirement and the Emeriti Advises faculty and
administration on policy and practice concerning tenure reduction, retirement,
rights of emeriti. Lorraine Davis, convenor;
University Appeals Board The final appeals body under the Student
Conduct Code. Chris Loschiavo (non-member) - convenor;
Campus Planning Advises the President on long-range campus
development with regard to buildings, landscaping, traffic, and parking.
Child Care & Family Support Assesses child care needs,
identifies priorities, and develops and recommends policies which support
child care needs of University faculty, staff, and students.
Environmental IssuesRecommends
policy/programs on environmental issues that affect the quality of life,
safety, and health of faculty, staff and students, and the general public.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Issues Advises the President and other
campus administrators on issues of importance for gay, lesbian and bisexual
people.
Off-Campus Scholarships and Grants Screens candidates for Fulbright,
Rhodes, and other off-campus scholarships and grants.
Scholarships Advises Financial Aid on policy and procedures for
awarding scholarships; participates in review of applications and selection
of scholarship recipients.
Student Health Advisory Advises Director of Student Health Center
and Vice President for Administration on policies and procedures of the
Health Center.
Technology Transfer Develops policies and strategies for assisting
technology transfer, patenting and copyrighting products of University-sponsored
research.
Traffic Appeals Board Appellate committee on parking and other traffic
convictions.
