The 1992-93 Committee on Committees, in its report to the University Senate, recommended that the Undergraduate Education & Policy Coordinating Council be asked to review the charge of the Advising Committee and consider abolishing it. We assume the Senate is taking action on that recommendation. In the meantime, it is the recommendation of the current Committee on Committees that we hold off on appointment of this committee until it has been thoroughly reviewed and its future determined. Therefore, no recommendations are included here for the Advising Committee.

Curriculum Deanna Robinson, Journalism (term expires 6/95) Jack Whalen, Sociology (term expires 6/95) Steven Chatfield, Dance (term expires 6/96) Michael Dyer, Mathematics - CHAIR (term expires6/96) Harve Waff, Geological Sciences (term expires 6/97)

Only Waff is a new appointment; all others are continuing terms. Again, the 199293 Committee on Committees, in its report to the University Senate, recommended an increase in membership of the Curriculum Committee to seven (7) faculty members because the workload on this committee is very heavy. We assume the Senate is taking action to revise the committee legislation accordingly. If we are allowed to appoint the additional two faculty members as requested, our recommendations for the additional appointments are: Geraldine Moreno-Black, Anthropology (term expires 6/97) H arold O w en, M usic (ter, expires 6/97)

The 1992-93 Committee on Committees, in its report to the University Senate, recommended abolishment of this committee. The reasoning was that the existence of the Polklore and Ethnic Studies programs within the College of Arts and Sciences makes this committee largely unnecessary. It was felt that, if an advisory body is needed, it should be established within the College of Arts and Sciences. We assume the Senate is taking action on legislation to abolish this committee and, therefore, we are making no appointment recommendations here.
