Report by the Senate President to the

13 October 1999 meeting of the UO Senate

    1) Appointment of the Senate Budget Committee 2) At the behest of the Senate Executive Committee, created of a special ad hoc committee to study University Committee Structures. This committee should evaulate the current University committee structure with a goal determining which committees should fall under the purvue of the faculty and report to the Senate rather than to the administration.The committee is expected report its recommendation to the Senate at the December meeting in the form of a suitable motion. 3) At the behest of the Senate Executive Committee, asked Senator Greg McLauchan to survey the members of the UO Senate concerning possible future agenda items.

    4) In consultation with the Senate Executive Committee and the Student Senate, granted the request of Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs to delay implementation of Senate Motion US97/98-10 adding two new required questions to the course evaluations. The original deadline for full was Fall 1999; it is now extended until Spring 2000.

    5) Requested that the Senate Nominating Committee find two replacements from the Professional Schools for vacancies on the Committee on Committees.

    6) The Policy on post tenure review passed by the Senate in May 1999 was issued by President Frohnmayer on 21 July 1999 21 July 1999 http://policies.uoregon.edu/ch3t.html
