Many organisms use photoperiod, or length of daylight, to cue seasonal behaviors such as reproduction and migration. Physiological responses to photoperiod have been well documented, but little is known in vertebrates about the molecular genetic basis of photoperiodic response. I am using the threespine stickleback to study photoperiodic response on several levels of biological organization.
