If an ant wrote a story, what would it write? English major Sara Twiggs took an ant’s perspective in her piece, “If an Ant Could Write”—and won a flash fiction contest on the National Day of Writing, a celebration encouraging students to get creative and engage their writing brains.

When linguistics professor Keli Yerian couldn’t find a good textbook for her Learning How to Learn Languages course, she put her students to work. Her team of students spent nine months creating an open-source educational resource for language learning that’s now available online and free for anyone to use.
