Junior Year College Planning Guide
Summer Before Junior Year
Senior year is just around the corner, so now’s the perfect time to start your college search. Thinking big picture now will help you hone and clarify your interests, extracurriculars, goals, and give you an advantage once it’s time to apply!
Start your process:
- Explore interests and build activity lists.
- Make a list of what you’re looking for in your ideal school.
Fall/Winter Junior Year
- Create a dedicated college email address to keep all your college communications organized.
- Continue to challenge yourself in the classroom and through extracurriculars.
- Research UO scholarships and review other scholarship resources from the UO and beyond.
- Get to know your UO admissions counselor.
Spring/Summer Junior Year
- Organize and track college deadlines. Review UO app requirements. The UO application opens August 1; Early Action Deadline is November 1.
- Start the Common App.
- Continue exploring scholarships and costs. Learn about the Duck Tuition Guarantee.
- Visit campus! Schedule a tour or register for Junior Duck Days.
- Draft your resume and college essay(s).
Fall Senior Year
- Submit your Early Action application by November 1!
- Submit your materials for specific schools:
- Clark Honors College – November 1.
- School of Architecture – November 1.
- Apply for scholarships.
- If you haven’t visited yet, schedule a campus tour or attend a fall Duck Preview event.
- Reach out to your admissions counselor at any time. We’re here for you every step of the process.
