DAILY CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Latest news and campus announcements

The UO has been providing daily updates on the impacts of COVID-19 on university operations since March 12. The university remains committed to providing timely information to our campus community, however the frequency of these updates is going to change.

Starting next week, we will provide updates on Mondays and Thursdays. Urgent information will be shared directly via email. The latest information is always available on the UO Coronavirus webpage and FAQ page.

NEW:

  • Posters and signs to promote safe distancing and other healthy reminders have been created as a resource for university departments in preparation for a safe return to in-person activities on campus this fall. The signs are available for digital download in print and screen resolutions.
  • Human Resources continues the employee engagement conversation launched last month by focusing on one of the five featured strategies – take care of yourself and encourage others to do the same. Employees are encouraged to explore ideas and suggested actions for taking care of their physical and mental wellbeing as outlined on the HR website.

REMINDERS:

  • The University of Oregon is introducing a voluntary summer work share program that lets employees work less from June 14 to August 14, with their pay adjusted accordingly, while health insurance and leave accruals continue without change. Employees would recoup their UO pay with unemployment benefits, including the additional $600 per week in federal stimulus benefits that are available through July 25. The program enables the university to reduce some expenses to offset impacts on revenue during this period of financial uncertainty.
  • Find information about the UO’s return to campus, including plans for the possible return to in-person instruction for fall term 2020 and resumption of some on-campus activities.
  • The fall class schedule and priority registration information for students was made available on June 1. Students received an email providing details about when they can register for fall term and encouraging them to contact their academic advisors.
