Design Lessons Learned:

We learned that heat is easily trapped inside a small structure. The cooking devices that Alexander uses create a lot of excess thermal energy that rises and becomes trapped inside the kiosk because there is no opening in the ceiling to let it out. The structure’s materials of canvas and wood were much better insulation than we thought they would be. We found that when designing small structures that have a thermal activity such as cooking going on in them you must account for that extra heat and give it a way to escape, otherwise the heat multiplies and the space is not thermally comfortable.
