Welcome to the UO Museum of Natural & Cultural History musical instrument collection!
Thank you for your assistance in this project. The University of Oregon Museum of Natural & Cultural History is creating an exhibit of musical instruments, many of which are part of the museum's collection. We need your help in identifying these instruments and providing advice on how we can obtain more information about them. See the right sidebar for the list of posted photos of these instruments, organized by culture area and instrument type. Please provide your comments, referring to particular photos by their catalogue numbers. These are the kinds of questions we have:
1. The particular ethnic group and specific geographical location associated with this instrument.
2. Local name(s) for this instrument.
3. Any information on cultural/historical contexts, functions, meanings, etc.
4. Recommendations regarding publications we can refer to for more information.
5. Recommendations regarding audio and video resources of performances on this instrument, especially in cultural contexts.
6. Names of particular researchers, scholars, performers, and institutions we may contact for further information.

HOW TO POST COMMENTS ON THIS BLOG:
