Mr. Davis’s house appeared to be thermally challenged. In addition, a great solar resource appeared to be available!

Hypothesis 1: Mr. Davis’s house was outside thermal comfort standards, as specified by ASHRAE standard 55-2004, for more than 25% of waking hours.

Hypothesis 2: Addition of one ton of thermal mass could diminish the temperature extremes in Mr. Davis’s house by more than 25%.
